In My Mailbox January 29, 2012

Hosted by The Story Siren.

In My Mailbox is a weekly bookish meme where we as book bloggers are able to share the books that we purchased, borrowed (from library, friends, etc.), swapped for, got for review or however else you obtain your books.  This is my first week ever participating and I'm looking forward to meeting all different sorts of book bloggers!  Leave me a link to your IMM and I'll be sure to drop by and say Hi!

LETHAL ALLIES

Bound Books

Under the Never Sky
Since she'd been on the outside, she'd survived an Aether storm, she'd had a knife held to her throat, and she'd seen men murdered. This was worse.

Exiled from her home, the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland - known as The Death Shop - are slim. If the cannibals don't get her, the violent, electrified energy storms will. She's been taught that the very air she breathes can kill her. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He's wild - a savage - and her only hope of staying alive.

A hunter for his tribe in a merciless landscape, Perry views Aria as sheltered and fragile - everything he would expect from a Dweller. But he needs Aria's help too; she alone holds the key to his redemption. Opposites in nearly every way, Aria and Perry must accept each other to survive. Their unlikely alliance forges a bond that will determine the fate of all who live under the never sky.

Tempest (Tempest #1)

The year is 2009.  Nineteen-year-old Jackson Meyer is a normal guy… he’s in college, has a girlfriend… and he can travel back through time. But it’s not like the movies – nothing changes in the present after his jumps, there’s no space-time continuum issues or broken flux capacitors – it’s just harmless fun.

That is… until the day strangers burst in on Jackson and his girlfriend, Holly, and during a struggle with Jackson, Holly is fatally shot. In his panic, Jackson jumps back two years to 2007, but this is not like his previous time jumps. Now he’s stuck in 2007 and can’t get back to the future.

Desperate to somehow return to 2009 to save Holly but unable to return to his rightful year, Jackson settles into 2007 and learns what he can about his abilities.

But it’s not long before the people who shot Holly in 2009 come looking for Jackson in the past, and these “Enemies of Time” will stop at nothing to recruit this powerful young time-traveler.  Recruit… or kill him.

Piecing together the clues about his father, the Enemies of Time, and himself, Jackson must decide how far he’s willing to go to save Holly… and possibly the entire world.

Catching Jordan
What girl doesn't want to be surrounded by gorgeous jocks day in and day out? Jordan Woods isn't just surrounded by hot guys, though - she leads them as the captain and quarterback on her high school football team. They all see her as one of the guys, and that's just fine. As long as she gets her athletic scholarship to a powerhouse university. But now there's a new guy in town who threatens her starring position on the team... and has her suddenly wishing to be seen as more than just a teammate.

Trance (MetaWars, #1)
Kelly Meding’s war-ravaged Los Angeles is ground zero for the ultimate Meta human showdown in this sexy, action-packed new series.

Trance heads to Los Angeles to track down the surviving Rangers and discover who restored her powers—and why—but a phantom enemy is determined to kill them before they can reassemble. As they dodge his deadly attacks and come to terms with their new role as heroes, Trance and the rest of the team set out to annihilate the sinister madman . . . only to discover their own powers are his greatest weapons.

Blood Bound (Unbound #1)
By blood, by word, by magic…

Most can't touch the power. But Liv Warren is special— a paranormal tracker who follows the scent of blood.

Liv makes her own rules, and the most important one is trust no one.

But when her friend's daughter goes missing, Liv has no choice but to find the girl. Thanks to a childhood oath, Liv can't rest until the child is home safe. But that means trusting Cam Caballero, the former lover forbidden to her.

Bound by oath and lost in desire for a man she cannot have, Liv is racing to save the child from a dark criminal underworld where secrets, lies, trauma and danger lurk around every corner…every touch…every kiss.

And more blood will be spilled before it's over…'

  3. I picked up Tempest this week as well! I've seen the stage show and film of War Horse and both made my sob so I'm not sure I could cope with thye emotion of reading the book as well - but I'm fairly sure I will at some point. :)

Under The Never Sky is a fun read - I really enjoyed it - hope you do to! :)

  4. @Jennifer - I haven't read any of Rachel Vincent's book yet. Though Blood Bound looked really good when I picked it up so I bought it. I got the opportunity to read an ARC of Catching Jordan and it was pretty cute. So I had to get a finished copy.

@Vicky - Thanks for stopping by! I can hardly wait to start reading from my MASSIVE TBR bookcases!

@Mel - Thanks for stopping by today! I just got done reading War Horse and it was really good. Not really a tear jerker and I was really worried about that. So your saying I should take some kleenex with me when I go see the movie?

Thank you for commenting on my mailbox. <3 Psst, you really should not wait until Bitterblue comes out to read Graceling and Fire :) Considering none of those books ends badly, and Bitterblue isn't really a sequel to either of them :) And oh, they are just too amazing to not read right away :D You really, really must read them! NOW! :D Hih (A) <3 And no, haven't started the Fever series yet :) but I have kind of read a little of each book, months ago, on my iPad, but only some parts :)
